Mission Statement:
The mission of LUFEST is to build connections and strengthen relationships between residents, organizations, businesses, and creative communities from the surrounding neighborhoods of Lake Union through relevant contemporary music and art events.
What is LUFEST?
The Lake Union SummerFest, better known this year as LUFEST is a rockin’ bene-festival dedicated to raising social consciousness and providing cool art and music related programming for active adults including singles and families with children. This year will mark the sixth annual year of this event and will feature some of Seattle's most cherished artists and bands.
Taking into consideration that the ancestors of the Duwamish Tribe were the original people who inhabited the Lake Union area, LUFEST will honor the tribe this year by including one of the tribes story tellers in programming for children. http://www.duwamishtribe.org/
The organizers of LUFEST believe in creating programming that is financially accessible to the community and continues to adhere to this important social value. Proceeds from our five dollar festival will benefit Early Learning and Health Awareness for Children presented by 501(c)3 MUSICA Entertainment http://www.musicaentertainment.org/ and the important work of the East Cherry Street Y.W.C.A. Domestic Violence Program which cares for children in the greater Seattle area. http://www.ywcaworks.org/page/25
We are very grateful for the strong support we have recieved from Beacon Plumbing and the Thrive-by-Five Foundation which have generously sponsored our Early Learning and Health Awareness programming for children.
